Holiday scripting lets your LEX Reception legal receptionists handle calls differently during holidays or scheduled office closures. This ensures your law firm maintains seamless, professional communication, even when you’re unavailable.
Clients will speak with a live, professional legal receptionist who can provide essential information like your holiday hours, special instructions, or next steps for legal inquiries. For urgent matters, calls can be forwarded directly to your on-call team, ensuring no critical case is missed.
How It Works
- Collaborate with our Client Services Team: Our experts will help you craft a holiday script tailored to your firm’s tone, schedule, and caller needs.
- Automatic Activation: Once your script is created, it will automatically activate on the dates you mark as closures in your account settings.
- Update Anytime: If your holiday hours or needs change, our Client Success Team can quickly update your script.
Create or update your holiday script
All holiday scripts are created in collaboration with our Client Services Team. They’ll ensure your script reflects your firms tone, holiday hours, and any special instructions. For example, your script might include a holiday greeting, call-forwarding instructions, or notice of any holiday-specific fees.
Once set up, your script will automatically go live on any dates you mark as closures.
Example holiday script:
| “Thank you for calling Smith Law. We have limited staff on Thursday, November 27, and will reopen fully on Friday, November 28, at 8:00 a.m. For emergencies, we have on-call staff available. How may I help you today?” |
This takes minutes to add to your script, but saves hours of confusion and keeps clients happy.
To update your holiday script:
- Call the Client Services Team, or email your preferred message or instructions.
- To ensure your script is ready, please allow at least 3 business days for updates before your holiday.
Set Your Holiday Closures in the App

You can schedule your holiday closures directly in the LEX Reception app:
1. Open the app (desktop or web).
2. Go to Settings.
3. Select ‘Live Receptionist’ and choose your account.
4. Navigate to the ‘Working Hours’ tab.
5. Under ‘Closures’, select the dates your firm will be closed.
Once saved, these dates will trigger your holiday script after it has been created.
