When your office is closed for a holiday, your callers still reach a live LEX receptionist. A holiday script tells your receptionist how to handle those calls – what to say, who to contact for urgent matters, and what your callers should expect.

This keeps your firm’s communication consistent and professional, even when no one is in the office.

How it works

Holiday scripts are created with your Client Account Manager. They’ll work with you to write a script that reflects your firm’s tone, your holiday hours, and any special instructions – whether that’s a greeting, call-forwarding details, or a note on response times.

Once your script is in place, it goes live automatically on any dates you’ve marked as closures in your account settings. You don’t need to do anything on the day itself.

Creating or updating your holiday script

To create a new script or update an existing one, contact your Client Account Manager directly – by phone or email.

Please allow at least 3 business days before your holiday for any new script or changes to be ready.

Setting your closure dates

You can mark your holiday closures directly in the LEX app:

  1. Open the desktop app and go to Settings > Live Receptionist. Select the account you want to edit.
  2. Go to the Working Hours tab. Under Closures, select the dates your office will be closed — choose from common holidays or add your own.

Once saved, your holiday script will go live automatically on those dates.

If you haven’t set up a holiday script yet, reach out to your Client Services Team before adding closure dates.
